Happy Finals Week!!
You made it through the year...congratulations! Don't take it lightly, it is an accomplishment you should be proud of, for sure!

For the final blog, please talk about your service site....where is it, what has been the highlight this year, what have you gained by being there and whether you plan to stay there next year...why or why not?

Unfortunately, Sandy will not be able to make it to the last class.I am not sure Maria Elena will be there either...so it will just us!

Please remember to bring whatever you said you would for the potluck and if you haven't signed up for something yet, the list went out today...check it and see what we need!!

I hope you are all using some self care as the semester winds down! We only have two classes left!! And one is a party...woohoo!

Reminder to get me your letters of rec.  before the last class.

Today, please tell one or two of your classmates something they did this past year that has had an impact on you. Keep it positive, of course!

Nature versus nurture? Birth order this week!!

Birth order refers to the order a child is born in their family; first-born and second-born are examples.





Please describe where you are in your family of origin.  Are you the oldest, youngest, middle or only child? How many kids were in your home when you were growing up? Did you get a lot of attention from the grown ups in your home or did you have a lot of independence?

What are your most prominent personal characteristics? (for example, independent, caring, selfish, selfless, peacemaker, arguer, etc...)

Please answer honestly and we will discuss in class this week.

healthy behaviors?

What behaviors do you have that are not healthy for you in taking care of your mind, body and spirit?  What can you do to substitute behaviors that will be healthier for you?

Hi Scholars!
Thank you all for such a professional and cooperative attitude last week. The feedback from our guests really was all good and you will be getting your sheets back from the interviewers this week.  I hope you found it interesting and useful....

We will be finishing up whatever loose ends there are for the Diversity Project this week. That includes video taping and discussing what your experiences have been. We will also talk about your upcoming assignment.

For the blog today, please discuss what you value most in your life...I will leave it to you to decide what that means. So, to be clear, DISCUSS does not mean write one sentence. It means, tell me what matters to you and why, who else you think has the same values, where you learned it from, and so on.

Interviews Wednesday!!

Diversity. Project blog

Hey Scholars-
Sounds as though you got a lot accomplished after I left on Wednesday! I am hoping to get some clarity and a better idea of what YOU think we are doing.  So, please use the blog to let me know what you personally are planning on doing to contribute to this project.  Both as part of your group and as an individual.

I want to be clear that I expect for each of you to visit St Vincent and meet with a youth there at least twice before the project is completed.

On Wednesday, we can finalize ideas and plans...but we will NOT be asking you to work on art projects while you are all dressed up.  So NEXT week we will work on the boxes or cards you decided to use for the donations and inspirational quotes.

Clear?  Please let me know your understanding of what YOU are doing, and what WE are doing as a class/community.

Diversity and DRESS FOR SUCCESS next week!!

Thank you ALL for the great brainstorming on our diversity project this week. Please be sure you let your classmates who were not there know what they missed. I am hoping we get some good information for next week so we can move forward into the planning and action stages.  Please be thinking about how YOU can contribute....and what inspiration you can give to a disenfranchised youth.  Maybe we do a movie for them? Art project? Maybe we make several smaller group visits instead of one large group visit?  That almost seems better to me.  Be thinking so we can discuss.

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT...NEXT WEEK IS DRESS FOR SUCCESS. YOU MUST COME TO CLASS DRESSED PROFESSIONALLY....INTERVIEW ATTIRE.  We will have a guest speaker and a mini fashion show.

So, blog for this week to keep you in the right mindset....
