Hey Scholars-
Sounds as though you got a lot accomplished after I left on Wednesday! I am hoping to get some clarity and a better idea of what YOU think we are doing. So, please use the blog to let me know what you personally are planning on doing to contribute to this project. Both as part of your group and as an individual.
I want to be clear that I expect for each of you to visit St Vincent and meet with a youth there at least twice before the project is completed.
On Wednesday, we can finalize ideas and plans...but we will NOT be asking you to work on art projects while you are all dressed up. So NEXT week we will work on the boxes or cards you decided to use for the donations and inspirational quotes.
Clear? Please let me know your understanding of what YOU are doing, and what WE are doing as a class/community.
Thanks and see you all spiffy on Wednesday!
Individually: I am going to bring crafting material, and ask family members if they have clothes to donate.
ReplyDeleteAs a group: Alexis and I got donations from outreach. As a team we will be planning who will speak on the video and see what other materials are necessary for 0-6 year olds.
On Wednesday Sandy wants me to lead the icebreaker so we can figure out who's stories will be highlighted in the video. I will be bringing in crafts and possibly boxes. At my dads house there should be trash bags of old clothes no longer being used so I'll be bringing that in as well. As a group we haven't decided what our next step is going to be. We're still looking into Polinski. My understanding of the project is that we're trying to help these disenfranchised youth with words of wisdom and possibly empowerment as well as provide clothing and get to know them.
ReplyDeleteI will bring some ribbons and some little cute things to decorate the boxes. And I will choose my inspiring quotes for the youth.I might do a video.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't decide what to do together in our group yet, maybe a video of inspiration, our stories of the struggle we went through and how we overcome it.
What I will be doing on my own is trying to get clothes from all ages for donation as well as bringing any necessary materials. Within my group I will help organizing all the clothes that is donated into boxes that I will help decorate and any additional help needed as well. Between all of this I will find time to go visit St Vincent as a group or individually. I will try my best to bring new ideas along the way if possible.

ReplyDeleteIn individually, I'm planing to bring any decorating materials such as stickers, or others cute things we can add on. I will be helping to organize the box and decorating anything that will be needed to add on. Also, I will be choosing my favorite inspirational quotes and bring in to class on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteAs a group, we are planning to help the students from age 0-6 years old, and we’ll discussing more on what other materials they need. I think someone in my group will also doing the video.
I am going to bring some stickers and I am going to help to decorate the boxes and bring extra stuffs
ReplyDeleteIndividually: I am going to look into effective and efficient ways of fundraising. Whether we're raising funds or doing a clothes drive is rather unclear. But I will see about possibly coordinating both options.
ReplyDeleteGroup: We plan to visit St Vincent seeing as t has a diverse group of individuals that seek services and aid there. This can serve as both benefit and a challenge to us in terms of raising funds/having a drive for certain items. In this, it is important that we have a target demographic OR we aim to raise a little for everyone. Either way, I'm very very excited for this. I see this as a people helping people activity. I don't like saying less-fortunate because it implies that disadvantaged circumstances are up to mere chance rather than causation/societal pressures. It is important,as members of the San Diego community at large, to aid those in need and recognize that no one should have to fight for basic human needs.
I am gonna bring baby clothes.
ReplyDeleteIndividually I am helping by bringing in crafting supplies and some clothes ages 0-6. As a group we still have not decided what it is we will be doing.
ReplyDeleteIn individually, I talked to my manger to give me boxes from my work and also I talked to them about my project and they liked and encourage me. They gave me around 10 boxes that I bring one of them to see if it is helpful for the project. I will be decorating anything that the other group needs it. Also, bring the inspiring quote.
ReplyDeleteAs a group, we need more discussing and talking together to figure out what exactly want to do and Also thinking about want make a video or not.
Individually: I will bring supplies to decorate the boxes or anything else. I will also bring any clothes for the youth. I will also bring quotes for the tree.
ReplyDeleteGroup: From my understanding we will bring what is needed for the shelter. We will also visit them.
As an individual, i will ask my family members and classmates if they have any clothes that they would like to donate and i will make sure to inform them about our project/mission. I will also bring materials to help decorate the boxes. As a class, i feel like we're doing something very important because what we're doing can positively impact individuals.

Individually: What I'd like to accomplish as an individual is being able to connect to at least two of their youth members at SV. Regardless of the minor details (bringing inspiration quote, crafting gift boxes, bringing in little kids' clothes, and/or making a video) I think the major picture for the project is lending a hand to those who might need it, and helping them overcome some difficulties they might be facing through compassion and motivation. Hopefully by the end of the project I will have someone to keep coming back for, and continue to do this in the future.
ReplyDeleteAs a group: Depending on whether it's our smaller group or as a class, I'd like to do a couple of things. As a smaller group, I'd like to visit the place at least 3 different times, perhaps not all of us at once, but some here and some there. As a class, I am a bit shaky on what exactly we want to accomplish and through what means, but I'm sure that once we have one general idea, we will be able to accomplish anything we set our minds to.
As an individual I am going to be bring baby clothes that family members are donating.
ReplyDeleteAs a group see what st Vincent's need as far as donations.
As a group and individually i would like to contribute in any way i can by bringing donations and art materials to work on as well as visit the site a few times in order to meet with some people from the site and have a good experience.

ReplyDeleteAs part of a group I will be bringing in supplies for the class so we can all work on doing something for the youth. Individually I will be washing the donated clothes that will be brought just in case any of the youth might be hypo allergic to the clothes, especially for the infants and toddlers. I will also go to Saint Vincent to get to meet someone and maybe even get a better aspect of how what will make there day and see if we can apply it to the project.
ReplyDeleteWhat me and Nelson did was to visits to saint Vincents. One was at the Day time facility and and the actual place. we grabbed supplies lists and emailed them out to everybody. Now we are kinda brainstorming on how to get the supplies, and how we are going to distribute at Saint Vincents.
ReplyDeleteHamud and I went to st Vincent's and the adult day center. My team is planning to volunteer at the day center with their soup kitchen or other activity they host.
ReplyDeleteWith my group I or individually I can visit St vincent to meet with youth. I can also bring supplies for the project and can make any donations that are going to be needed for, I can ask my friends or family if they have like clothes or other things that could be donated.
ReplyDeleteIndividually, I have gathered a lot of clothes for children in between ages 0-6 and I have also bought materials to be donated. As a group, Lizbeth and I got some supplies from outreach and we have talked about extra supplies we will purchase to take to the kids when we meet them. We have also gone to St. Vincent already to find out when we can come volunteer but were not very successful.
ReplyDeleteGoodevening Price Fam,
ReplyDeleteNichole, Carlos and I have set up some plans within our schedules and the stories we as a class selected to create the video. We are creating a production plan which means things are getting real!
I will get this opportunity to say most of the announcements we have for y'all!
We need for :
Marisol
Kenny
Noora
Luis
Yasina.....
To contact us when they have time within their schedule ASAP!
We plan to get the stories out in video with real emotions of our scholars on how they have grown as students and include the Price Program as well, because this program with all the help has taught us to many differnt things , and it hits home very different to each and eveyone of us.
This will be very important because we will get more comfortable with eachother and how we all came as scholars with 1 essay.
More and more is being developed! Stay Tuned
