  1. When working in my site at UCSD free clinic I had the challenge of translating word into Spanish and I explain to the patient what it was to best of my knowledge that I could and asked if they understood me. I've gone the extra mile in helping patients in my site for example helping them walk to the trolley with their groceries and making stops because it was hard for patient to walk few blocks.

  2. Goodevening Price Family,

    1. What careers interest you? And what skills or interest do you have that will make you successful in these careers?

As a student I am very open-minded in experinceing many careers in journalism. I spefically have been working towards a broadcast journalism degree, here at San Diego City College. In which, I would love to become a successful anchor for professional news station. I have attended and completed broadcast camps and workshops within San Diego and Los Angeles county to further my network circle and learn the industry.

I am also interested with more specifics in Sports Journalism, innwhich I am working towards my dream job to become a sportscaster for professional sports. I am a filmmaker for my local community colleges football team , where I serve as their sideline reporter and anaylst for the team.

I believe in journalism, we the student , make the best from progression from our work ethics. In which case, I am weeks away from launching my sports blog and own sports show locally.

    4. Give an example of how you work with a team?

An example of how I work within a team is teamwrok. I believe as a student we need to work smarter, not harder, within communication every obstacle becomes easier.

As a journalism student starting out, I work with many personalities, we have variety of departments that we all have a specific emphasis in the industry, and what we usually have more expertise, therefore, when I work in televison , when producing a 30 minute show locally, we need communication, consistency, and persistency, because its the only way we can achieve to make televison seem easy.

I am still a bit rocky with the questions, but I will conquer, I feel as a student that knows what she wants in life, I need to include myself as a journalist as its my identity.

Have an awesome Sunday Night <3 love y'all

  5. 1. Give me an example of how you handled a difficult situation.

-When I was 17 I was working at a Carls Jr. for about 3 months. within those 3 months I was promoted into a shift lead however I had to work the grave yard shift. Now this when the difficult part comes in. So during the Graveyard shift there is only 2 employees that work and that was Cashier and the Fry Cook, and to make matters more complicated the Fry Cook I was working with only spoke Spanish. As if the Odds weren't already not in our favor. Not only were we understaffed but there was also a language barrier. However I did not let this stop me from getting the work done. At first the Fry cook had an attitude towards me because I was to quick and filled he screens with orders. and also I was only 17 ( he probably didn't like the idea that I was in charge.) After awhile I started to notice him struggling so I went in and helped out by cooking up some frys and putting burgers on the grill. There was even times when I helped him clean and backed him up on extremely large orders. I made so he couldn't hate me. Within 2 weeks we became bestfriends. I was speaking bits and pieces of Spanish and English started to get better because I would teach him. The boss even acknowledged the fact that we had one of the quickest drive through times in the city amongst other Carls Jrs. Together we made a bad situation goog

2.Give me an example of you work well under pressure.

-First and foremost I am not one to give up what I've started. So when situations get tough I get tougher. There was this one time I was working in the UPS Store in North Park and It was the Day before Christmas. (& Yes people still try to send stuff the day before Christmas and complain why their package sent to New York didn't Arrive on time.) So during that dreadful day on peak season Me and coworker Tim (not his name but that's what Im going to call him for now. were exhausted from back to back work all day. It was as if the Line just kept getting bigger and bigger and wouldn't stop. 30 minutes into the last hour of the shift Tim got extremely mad an frustrated so he went to the back grabbed his coat and walked out on me and the customers. I was alone, with 20+ customers, and they all lost patience for standing in line for 20 minutes. So I took a step back and analysed the situation. When I was done thinking I went ahead and told all the customers the blunt but honest truth. I went ahead and told them that we are closing in 25 minutes and that im the only one on staff right now so if I cant get to you by the time we close your going to have to leave and try again tomorrow. Many customers got discouraged and left, However just as much tried to test their luck and wait in line. I proceeded to help out customers until 5 minutes before closing before I announced my self again. another handful got discouraged and left while some still stayed. As soon as it turned 5 I helped my last customer and kicked everybody else. Politly However I took very much pleasure in doing so. Even though I had all that pressure on me I still handled the situation pretty well. A lot of the customers were nice to me and complimented me for keeping a level head. Once customer said I handled that situation "Elagantly".

Some of the careers that interest me are in community organizing, policy development, and in restorative justice implementation. I have an interest in helping my community. I also have skills in conflict resolution, resolution writing, and in advocacy.
    2. Tell me about a course you’ve really enjoyed. Why?

I’ve greatly enjoyed my gender studies 101 course this semester. I’ve enjoyed it because I do a lot of activism work. I’ve been in marches and rallies in solidarity with my brothers and sisters who identify as part of the LGBTQ community. Thanks to this class I’m able to empathize more with them and understand why the fight for their rights is a fight for the rights of everyone

  8. 1. What careers interest you? And what skills or interest do you have that will make successful in these careers?
A career I’m interested is nursing. I used to volunteer at UCSD Medical Center and my role is to help the patients by passed out water, picked up the phone, fed the patients, and delivered supplies. This experience has made me feel that I am doing something good. Seeing many people get sick has made me want to become a nurse. Making people feel better doesn’t stop at the hospital; one can leave an impact on other lives by instilling a positive attitude into others. I will never forget that one patient left a letter for me about how nice I was to her and how my smile brightened her day. This experience reminded me of the importance of caring for people on a personal level and in the future as a medical professional.

    2. What areas do you feel you need to improve?
I need to work on my public speaking because I’m naturally shy and awkward person. However, I’m very excited about the opportunity. Also, I have experienced doing many presentations in most of my classes and I’m improving it day by day.

  9. 1.
The careers that interest me are education, behavioral analyst, and cinematographer. The skills/interest I have that will make me successful in these careers is 1. I enjoy working with kids and kids love me. 2. I am an observer. I have an eye for detail and I can tell when someone isn't feeling well. 3. I have had an interest in cameras since a very young age. I was on a youth film team for many years.

    6.
The way I handle a difficult situation is by first assessing it. For example, when it comes to doing group work it can be hard to make sure everyone does their part. I will constantly do check ins to see where everyone is at with the project. If someone is making themselves hard to reach and not responding I'll talk to them in person or see if someone else in the group knows why. I'll try to find out if they need any help with their part and if the issue still isn't resolving itself I'll figure out if the group is able to split up that person's work so we'll have a finished piece to present.

  11. Q:Tell me about a project or accomplishment that you're especially proud of.

A: I am especially proud of to be part of the Street of Dreams program, which would consist of me being a mentor to the teenage mothers' at Lindsay Community School, to help them pursue a college education.

Q: How do you handle a challenge? Give an example.

A: The way I handle a challenge is I evaluate it and look for ways to overcome it. For example, my child care provider through the County, called me and said that I did not turn in any of paper work that they require to approve my childcare. They had told me they will not pay my services for the 10 days that I had been taking my daughter to the center and they do not do back pay. I had turned on the paper work but it got lost, I had copies of them so I went in person to turned them in. They said after today they would pay not before. I went to talk to the person who took care of my daughter and made arrangements so I can pay the days she would not get paid from the county in payments.

  14. - Tell me about a project or accomplishment you're especially proud of.

I think one of my greatest accomplishments yet has been joining cross country. The reason being, I joined the team to better myself as a runner and because I enjoyed running. However, it was so much more than that. Cross country was an eye opener for me as in what my limits are. My first race was 3 miles long. It was a hot day and my stomach was failing on me from nervousness. I did not have my family there to support me but I build my own family that day. The cross country team supported me and motivated me to push beyond my limits. I had never ran 3 miles non-stop. I thought for a moment i was going to faint before finishing the race. My team did not let me down and kept giving me reasons to not stop and keep going. I finished my race and had the best time from all my teammates. The moral of this story is to go beyond what you believe is your limit. There is no limits in life. I have taken this lesson with me everywhere I go and thanks to it I continue to succeed.

-Give an example of how you have handled a difficult situation.

Last semester I was faced with multiple family problems. My mom kicked me out of the house. I had to find a place to stay while still having the responsibility of school. I ended up staying in Tijuana with my dad and taking a leave of absence. Before I made that decision I asked for advice from close friends, counselors, and even some professor. I never make a decision without asking for advice or looking at the consequences of my decisions. I took that time off so i could arrange my personal life and come more prepared to school the spring semester.

A: One of the proudest accomplishments that I am so proud of is working with Include Autism during my senior year because it opened up my eyes to what I want to do as my career it changed me as a person as well my accomplishments helped me open up others minds it makes me so proud.

  16. 1. What careers interest you? And what skills or interest do you have that will make you successful in these careers?
I'm really interrsted in the education field. When i first started college i felt as if i was wasting time by not making my mind up on what i wanted to do for the rest of my life. Luckily, through Price i found my passion and career goal. I started working with 5th grade students at Rosa Park (my worksite) last year and i really enjoyed it. However, when i got the chance to work with Kidergarteners i completely loved it. The teacher allowed me to intercat with student all day, unlike the 5th graderd who were more independent. The kids make me feel appreciated and i always look forward to seeing them again and teaching them new things.
    2. Tell me about a course you've really enjoyed. Why?
Ever since i was in elementary school, i've always really enjoyed the English language. This semester i'm taking English 101 and i can say it's been my favorite class so far. I enjoy it so much that i decided to challenge myself with the Honors class and i do not regret it. This english class is taught from a Chicano perspective which makes the class more interesting and it allows me as a chicana, to feel more connected to the English subject.

  17. Q: What careers interest you? And what skills or interest do you have that will make you successful in these careers?
A: I am interested in computer science and developmental psychology. I believe people are very much like technology. Both of these are also very much like puzzles - it's just a matter of figuring them out. I find these interesting because it reflects my personality. I enjoy challenges.

Q:Give an example of how you have handled a difficult situation.
A: A student came in to the office one day and she was being very sarcastic. I was not in any mood to deal with this, however I did stay calm and communicated properly so that I was able to get her what she wanted.

  18. How do you deal with a colleague at work with whom you seem to be unable to build a successful working relationship?
I will have a conversation with the coworker. I’ll explain my problem then listen to what their problem is. Hopefully after that we will be able to compromise. If not then ill seek the help from my supervisor or manger.

Give an example of how you work with a team?
First communicate with them then try to be very clear and respectful, compromise with their opinion, listen to them and help each other work as a team.

  19. How do you handle a challenge? Give an example

I like to handle challenges strategically. Specifically I like to first assess what the actual challenge is. Then I like to figure out what I can control within the challenge. Afterwards I like to see what needs to be fixed or what needs to be worked on and I like to tackle that. For example I work as a peer advocate for the first year experience program here at City College. In this Isis students with filing their financial aid and registering for classes. Sometimes a student may have any financial aid question that goes beyond my level of expertise. And that I first identify the question that they have write it down and identify the specific person or department that I need to go to answer the question

    2. What areas do you feel you need to improve?

If there is anything that I identify as a constant area of improvement, it's finding a way to not take on too many responsibilities. I always seem to find myself going out of my way to help those around me without considering what ive got on my plate first, which can be disruptive with my given tasks.

      2. What do you want me to know about you?

I know that things don't always go the way they are supposed to, but I will always give my best to every task, and at the end of it, I will find time to reflect on areas of improvement
